SMU Guildhall Spring 2021Virtual Career Fair

Continuing on its promise to connect today’s top studios with tomorrow’s top talent, on Tuesday, March 9th, SMU Guildhall welcomed companies from across the globe for its Virtual Career Fair, including PlayStation, Epic Games, Funcom, Gearbox Software, Santa Monica Studio, and a host of others. Leveraging Handshake’s ground-breaking virtual platform, hiring companies participated in 219 interviews with Guildhall students and alumni, in addition to 20 info sessions wherein companies shared insights about their culture, values, and direction.

As one participating employer expressed, “Guildhall career fairs are my favorite, and your students are second to none. Always such a great cohort of folks to connect with.”

The event expanded beyond just formal Fair hours, as well. The day before the event, Santa Monica Studio presented an exclusive pre-fair workshop to hone students’ networking skills in anticipation for the event. And to follow the event, any companies who were not able to participate in the formal event were able to take part by accessing student portfolios and following up with subsequent interviews.

Companies who participated in the event include: Epic GamesPlayStation, Forward Game Studios, Funcom, Looty Games, Santa Monica Studio, High Voltage Software, E4D Technologies, Iron Galaxy Studios, HookBang, Groove Jones, Gearbox Software, Rivals of Aether, Stray Kite Studios, Bethesda Game Studios.

The Handshake platform delivered students a uniquely curated, efficient experience. By signing up for companies’ schedules in advance, students avoided the lines typical of in-person career fairs and engaged companies in one-on-one video meetings. SMU Guildhall is excited about the opportunities this technologies affords future events and collaborations.
