SMU Guildhall Named to The Princeton Review List, "Top 25 Graduate Schools for Game Design for 2019"
SMU Guildhall has been recognized as one of 2019's top graduate schools at which to study game design by The Princeton Review®. The education services company features the school on its 10th annual ranking list, "Top 25 Graduate Schools for Game Design."
SMU Guildhall captured the 2nd spot on the graduate programs list, which The Princeton Review released March 12th along with its list, "Top 50 Undergraduate Schools for Game Design." The full lists are posted at Top Schools for Game Design 2019.
“We’re proud to continually achieve a Top 10 ranking year after year. This consistency demonstrates the ongoing level of success and high quality that has come to be expected and recognized in a SMU Guildhall education,” said SMU Guildhall Director, Gary Brubaker.
The Princeton Review chose the schools for its top game design program lists this year based on a survey it conducted in 2018 of administrators at 150 institutions that offer game design courses, majors, or degree programs. Surveyed schools were in the U.S., Canada and abroad. The survey collected information about the schools' game design programs in four areas: academics, faculty, technology, and career prospects. In all, more than 40 data points were analyzed to tally the lists. More information on The Princeton Review rankings methodology is here.
"We highly recommend SMU Guildhall and each and every one of the institutions that made our lists for 2019," said Robert Franek, Editor-in-Chief for The Princeton Review. "Their faculties are outstanding and their facilities are awesome. Just as impressive: their alumni include many of the video game industry’s most prominent artists, designers, developers, and entrepreneurs.”
The Princeton Review developed its “Top Game Design Schools" project in 2009 with assistance from a national advisory board that helped design the project survey ranking list methodology. Board members included administrators and faculty from respected game design programs, and professionals from some of the top gaming companies. SMU has ranked amongst the top schools for game design every year since 2011.
The Princeton Review's reporting partner for this project, PC Gamer (a monthly magazine published by Future plc), has a feature on the ranking lists in its May issue. It reports interesting facts on the schools' programs, faculty, and alumni. The issue lands in subscriber mailboxes in mid-March and on newsstands March 26.
The Princeton Review is also known for its annual rankings of colleges, business schools, and law schools in dozens of categories it reports on its site and in its books including The Best 384 Colleges, and The Best Value Colleges. The company is not affiliated with Princeton University.
