The SMU Taos Campus provides and enchanting atmosphere that inspires collaboration between students, faculty, and the community.
Teaching Schedules in Taos
In each term, students are required to enroll in a 3-credit course. Students also have the option to add on a one-credit course (PRW 2135). In order to ensure each course has the ability to fulfill their minimum contact hours, it is important that all faculty respect the scheduled class meeting times.
- All 3-credit courses need to complete a total of 44 - 48 contact hours - meeting Monday - Friday during all terms
- Summer Terms meet 4 hours a day - typically 9 am - 2 pm with a break for lunch
- Winter Term meets 6 hours a day - typically 9 am - 4 pm with a break for lunch and includes a study day in the calendar to meet non-contact hours.
- PRW 2135 will meet all day Saturday and Sunday, along with a few weekday evenings.
Faculty Housing
All faculty who teach in Taos are provided with housing on campus in Faculty and Staff housing. Faculty & accompanying family stay in casitas or apartments, which may include a private or shared living space. Each faculty member will have their own bedroom and private bathroom. Families generally will not share a living space with others.
Dining
Faculty and their families will dine at the on-campus dining hall with 3 chef-prepared hot meals a day and 24/7 dining hall access. The dining hall does a great job to adhere to dietary restrictions and allergies.
