Saidapet Ramesh
Saidapet Ramesh is the current Director of NPI DFT Design Agentic AI Automation at NXP Semiconductors in Austin, Texas. He brings over 22+ years of semiconductor industry leadership in Design for Test, silicon quality, and automotive zero defect strategies. His contributions include delivering 0 dPPB automotive silicon, achieving First Time Right vectors for multiple NPI programs, improving yield across several designs, and generating millions of dollars in cost savings across advanced FinFET and legacy technologies. His professional journey spans Intel, Qualcomm, and the past eight years at NXP Semiconductors. He recently earned his Ph.D. from Southern Methodist University under the guidance of Dr. Jennifer Dworak in May 2026.
In this new SMU Research Fellow role at SMU, he is committed to enhancing the intersection of AI/ML and engineering education at SMU by:
- Pioneering launch of a DFT AI lab to support innovative research initiatives led by Dr. Jennifer Dworak in ECE department of Lyle School of Engineering
- Advocating for a comprehensive AI/ML curriculum roadmap to equip SMU ECE students with cutting-edge skill
- Collaborating and developing Integrated practical AI/ML projects into existing ECE VLSI Design & Test courses, ensuring our SMU graduates are industry AI/ML ready
