Representation to Other Agencies

Accredited programs are responsible for ensuring that Institutional Effectiveness (IE) is kept informed of accreditation activities and maintains current institutional records. Schools and departments with specialized accreditation should:

  • Use the official SMU Catalog program description when reporting information to program accreditors.
  • Notify IE before any accreditation review, proposed change in accreditation status, or voluntary withdrawal from accreditation.
  • Provide IE with copies of all accreditation self-studies, review reports, decision letters, and final accreditation reports as they become available.
  • Submit any additional correspondence or documentation received from the accrediting agency to IE for institutional records.
  • Regularly review the Accrediting Agencies website annually to ensure accuracy and notify IE of any updates.
The Associate Provost for Institutional Effectiveness will contact the Dean of each school on August 1 annually to request a review and update.
