Perspective Magazine 2021: Body and Soul
Perspective magazine, distributed annually, is the official print publication for alumni/ae, friends, donors and supporters of SMU Perkins School of Theology. Letters to the editor and contributions to Alumni/ae News are welcomed.
The 2021 issue of Perspective Magazine, “Body and Soul,” explores the intersection of the work of Perkins School of Theology with the world of medicine and healthcare as we prepare students for holistic ministry; John Wesley’s understanding of how maintaining our physical wellbeing supports our spiritual lives; the partnership between Perkins and Houston Methodist Hospital and the new concentration in Healthcare Chaplaincy, including meeting four students enrolled in the program; courses in Pastoral Care with Dr. Jeanne Stevenson-Moessner; and alumnae/e, students and others in the Perkins community who are ministering in healthcare settings in innovative ways. You’ll also read about the recipients of the Seals Laity Award and 2020 Distinguished Alumnus Awards, a new program at Perkins, the transfer of the World Methodist Museum collection to the Bridwell Library and more.
Using ‘flipping book’ technology—which provides a user experience complete with ‘page turning’ combined with quick links to content—the magazine is accessible via computer, laptop or tablet.
