Texas Filmmakers
The G. William Jones Film & Video Collection preserves the work of Texas filmmakers whose careers span documentary, commercial, experimental and feature filmmaking. Many worked in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, while others had a broader national impact.
Joe and Carolyn Camp
The Joe and Carolyn Camp/Mulberry Square Collection documents the career of director Joe Camp, best known for the 1974 film "Benji." The collection includes "The Double McGuffin," "For the Love of Benji" and "Hawmps!," along with production materials, paper records and promotional media related to Mulberry Square films and television programs.
Ken Heckmann
The Ken Heckmann Collection includes commercial films and feature productions from the filmmaker's career. Highlights include 16mm films created for Xerox, the Southland Corporation, and the Dallas Chamber of Commerce, as well as films produced in the Dallas area, including "Like a Roaring Lion" and "A Father, a Son and a Three-Mile Run."
Mark Birnbaum
The Mark Birnbaum Collection includes finished productions and raw production elements from the filmmaker's career. Highlights include "The Big Buy: Tom DeLay's Stolen Congress," "Stop the Presses," and the television miniseries "The Faithful Revolution: Vatican II."
J. Mitchell Johnson
The J. Mitchell Johnson Collection documents the filmmaker's career from student productions through his work with KERA-TV and Fort Worth Productions. The collection includes completed films, works in progress, and extensive production materials. Highlights include "Contest to Carnegie Hall" and "Yanks for Stalin."
Patricia and Jim Martin
The Patricia and Jim Martin Collection preserves more than 50 years of production work created in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. It includes films, production records and client projects created through Martin Media Management, Inc. for organizations including the Catholic Diocese of Dallas, the Archbishop Sheen Center for Communications and Southern Methodist University.
Mike Morris
The Mike Morris Collection documents the work of the experimental filmmaker and former SMU faculty member. The ongoing collection includes films such as "Blue Movie," "I Can't Wait to Meet You There," and "ARK," which was part of a multimedia exhibition created in collaboration with the Jones Collection.
Larry Buchanan
The Larry Buchanan Collection preserves surviving film elements from the Texas filmmaker's career. Donated by his son, Jeff Buchanan, in 2021, the collection includes the original 35mm negative for "Mistress of the Apes."
Pansy Johnson
The Pansy Johnson Collection documents the work of the East Texas filmmaker, producer and screenwriter. The collection includes materials from the feature films "In High Cotton" and "Small Town America," along with episodes of her television program, "Pansy Johnson's Stardust."
