Interlibrary Loan & Document Delivery
Request materials from other libraries such as books, articles, DVDs, music, documents, and more. Or, if SMU Libraries has the book chapter or article you need in print, you can request that we scan it for you.
Your Account
Log in to your Interlibrary Loan account to:
- Make new requests
- Check due dates
- Request renewals
- Access materials delivered online
Make a Request
There are three ways to request materials through Interlibrary Loan:
- Choose "Request from Another Institution" in Library Search to autofill your request.
- Choose "Request SMU Interlibrary Loan" in WorldCat to autofill your request.
- If you have the full citation, sign in to your account and choose New Request.
Renew an Item
The lending library determines due dates and whether Interlibrary Loan items can be renewed. Check your Interlibrary Loan account or the printed slip in your book for the due date and number of renewals allowed.
To renew an eligible item, look under Checked Out Items in your account and select Request Renewal. If that option is not available, Ask Us for help requesting a renewal.
First-time Users
For your first request, verify your account information and indicate your library.
Interlibrary Loan is a free service for:
- Current students
- Current or retired faculty
- Current or retired staff
- Friends of the Library members at the Library Fellow membership level or above
- Research Card holders
