Print, Copy, & Scan

Student Printing Allowance

Each student receives 1,500 pages of free printing per academic year (a $75 value). This credit is added to your printing account at the start of the fall semester and can be used in the computer lab and on the second-floor printers/copiers/scanners.

Printing

For instructions on how to print or add funds, please see our PaperCut page. Unreleased print jobs are automatically deleted after 4 hours at no charge.

Lexis Printers

Students may print research materials from Lexis at no cost using Lexis printers in the computer lab. This is a good way to conserve your annual printing allowance.

When printing from Lexis, select “LIBRARY 2ND FLOOR” or “LIBRARY 3RD FLOOR.”

Copying

Multi-function machines (copy, print, scan) are available on the library’s second floor.
  • SMU Faculty, Staff, and Students:  Access machines by swiping your SMU ID or entering your ID number and password.
  • Guests:  Create an online account to pay for services. View instructions for creating your account, adding funds, and using the machines.

Scanning

All library copiers/printers on the second and third floors include scanning features, with document feeders for efficient multi-page scanning.

  • Scans are delivered by email
  • Limit: 60 pages per scan (due to email size limits)
  • No charge, but an account is required

The library also offers a KIC Bookeye 4 overhead scanner on the third floor (printer room), available at no cost.
