About Us

Improving Health | Developing Leaders | Creating Change

The result of the largest collaboration of universities in North Texas, the DFW Albert Schweitzer Fellowship provides graduate and medical students across the Metroplex the unique opportunity to work in an interdisciplinary cohort and launch innovative health and well-being initiatives in the community while receiving extensive mentoring and support.

Part of a network of 14 other chapters across the country, each year, roughly 250 Albert Schweitzer Fellows across the country participate in a mentored, reflective, and interdisciplinary leadership development program that enhances their abilities to effectively carry out interventions that improve the health and wellbeing of underserved people. This year-long educational experience provides Schweitzer Fellows with the opportunity to gain firsthand knowledge and skills rarely found in their academic training.

Our Mission

The mission of the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship is to prepare the next generation of professionals who will serve and empower vulnerable people to live healthier lives and create healthier communities.
