Cox MBA Scholarship

Cox Full-Time MBA Scholarships

A two-year graduate business education at a top, private business school can be expensive. At SMU Cox, we want to make that experience accessible and affordable. Through generous support of our corporate and private donations and endowments, we are able to offer competitive scholarship packages to approximately 90 percent of our student body each year. In the 2022 entering class, the average scholarship award was over $54,000.

Merit Scholarships

Merit scholarships are awarded each year based on individual merit and achievement. Recipients are selected on the basis of demonstrated academic achievement, performance on standardized tests, professional experience, and leadership potential. All candidates are automatically considered for merit scholarships.

Scholarships are awarded for the entire two-year period unless otherwise noted), and subject to satisfactory academic performance. To be eligible, candidates must submit their application, including all pieces (transcripts, GMAT, TOEFL, essays, etc.), by the deadline.

We believe that a diverse community helps stimulate the overall education experience and executives from leading Fortune 500 companies firmly believe that a diverse workforce stimulates ideas needed to compete on a global level. The SMU Cox Community Scholarships are awarded based on how a candidate has demonstrated support of the advancement of diversity through their involvement in their personal or professional communities.

SMU Cox will award up to two ROMBA Fellowships to support LGBTQ+ and active ally MBA applicants. Fellowship awards will be valued at $20,000 or more - For more information about what a ROMBA Fellowship entails, please visit the ROMBA website.

Military Scholarships

The Cox School of Business firmly believes that the leadership and teamwork values taught to members of the military are valuable assets that veterans bring to their classmates. For that reason, we work closely with our veteran candidates to determine what types of scholarships are available. For those with Yellow Ribbon eligibility, we are often able to offer scholarships that cover the gap between Yellow Ribbon and the total cost of tuition. For those who are not 100% G.I. Bill eligible, we have generous endowments available for veteran candidates. We will work individually with each veteran candidate to determine their scholarship needs and eligibility.

Brierley Institute for Customer Engagement

In September of 2016, the nation's first academic institute dedicated to the study of customer engagement was announced as a partnership between the SMU Cox School of Business and Hal Brierley. Mr. Brierley is known as the lone consultant who helped launch American Airlines' AAdvantage Program. The Brierley Institute focuses on improving customer engagement across different customer brands. Students who work with the center will have an opportunity to learn how to effectively build customer relationships while leveraging digital and traditional media, as well as measuring financial impact of the programs to determine how to best create customer loyalty. Candidates with a strong interest in marketing will be considered for scholarship.
