The Office of Research and Graduate Studies (ORGS)
Graduate students at Southern Methodist University are involved in cutting-edge research all across campus. From our Center for Scientific Computation and labs (such as those in Earth Sciences, Psychology, and Electrical Engineering, to our special collections and archives, SMU’s facilities enable our graduate students to work at the forefront of their fields. Graduate students are able to come together across campus to celebrate their research with our annual Research Day program, open to all graduate students at SMU.
Doctoral students are eligible to receive various fellowships from the university, in addition to departmental support. The University Ph.D. Fellowship is available to doctoral students from any program, and the Dean’s Fellowship is open to doctoral students within Dedman college. All graduate students are eligible for a Travel Grant which can be used for presenting a poster or paper at an academic conference. We invite prospective students to learn more about the programs available at SMU, and current students can find information about policies and procedures on the Graduate Studies website.
