The University Testing Center (UTC) is within the Office of the Provost's Student Academic Engagement and Success (SAES) area at SMU.

At SMU, the University Testing Center (UTC) provides superior service to our student clients, instructors, evaluators, and community partners within a convenient, confidential, and comfortable environment. Our dedication to providing exemplary, individualized service to every visitor of our center is paramount, in keeping with SMU’s dedication to fostering individual learning, dignity, and worth.
Our testing environment embodies test administration practices that:
- adhere to nationally-recognized professional testing standards and government regulations,
- maintain the integrity of the testing performance by incorporating ethical standards and security measures, and
- treat all examinees in a professional, yet personable manner.
We're certified.
The University Testing Center adheres to the National College Testing Association’s (NCTA) Professional Standards and Guidelines, ensuring every assessment experience results in a fair and equitable outcome. The University Testing Center is a certified NCTA testing center. The National College Testing Association is a non-profit organization of testing professionals working in post-secondary institutions, in companies with test-related products and services, and in other professional testing venues. NCTA was organized in 2000 and currently has more than 3,000 members and has certified more than 300 testing centers throughout the country.
