Student Academic Engagement and Success

Student Academic Engagement and Success

The Office of Student Academic Engagement and Success works to make sure that SMU students are aware of the academic opportunities and support systems that operate across campus to ensure their academic success and enrich their experiences inside and outside the classroom. This office works directly with the University Advising Center, the Honors College, the Office of Engaged Learning, and the Altshuler Learning Enhancement Center. Support for specific student groups, including Hunt Scholars, Mustang Scholars, President’s Scholars, Student Athletes, and students with accommodations, are coordinated within this office. In addition, two distinctive SMU academic programs, Hilltop Scholars and the Rotunda Scholars, are available for students to align with as the transition to SMU. This office also works closely with the Associate Provosts for Curricular Innovation and Policy and Faculty Affairs, Associate Provost for Institutional Planning and Effectiveness, and Directors of Assessment, the Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management, and Associate Deans to develop a comprehensive retention and graduation strategy for all undergraduate students.
