William T. Solomon

William T. Solomon is chairman and CEO of Austin Industries, Inc., a general construction company in Dallas.

Mr. Solomon began with Austin Industries in 1967 and was named president in 1970. In 1986, his company became employee-owned, and more than 6,000 company employees began working under a mission statement encouraging shared values such as open communication, a can-do spirit, personal accountability, and exemplary performance.  Austin Industries boasts an excellent safety record, diversified capabilities, and strong financial management.

William Solomon serves on the boards of the A.H. Belo Corporation, the Dallas Citizens Council, the Hoblitzelle Foundation, SMU, and the Southwestern Medical Foundation. His numerous honors include the Humanitarian Award of the National Council of Christians and Jews, the Texas Minority Business Advocate of the Year from the U.S. Small Business Administration, and the Champion of Free Enterprise Award from Associated Builders and Contractors.

A native of Dallas, Mr. Solomon graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1965 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and earned his M.B.A. in 1967 from the Harvard Graduate School of Business.
