The SMU Human Rights Program promotes all the rights enshrined in the United Nations' Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The program:

  • Educates and trains future generations of human rights advocates and responsible citizens of the world.
  • Provides an interdisciplinary curriculum introducing students to the study of universally recognized civil, political, economic, social and cultural human rights.
  • Supports human rights research and travel and offers human rights-related internships, seminars and conferences.

What can we do?

The fight to protect human rights is an ongoing effort. Atrocities continue, and education is our greatest weapon. View our calendar of events for ideas on how to get involved.
