John Martin

Assistant Director for Orientation & Transitions

John serves as the Assistant Director for Orientation & Transitions at SMU. He graduated from Abilene Christian University (ACU) where he earned a bachelor’s degree in advertising & public relations and minored in business marketing. John earned his master’s degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Baylor University (BU). John also has previous education experience in development, residence life, and admissions through positions at Milton Academy, University of Texas-Arlington, Abilene Christian University, and Baylor. 

Outside of work, John enjoys cooking, playing music, and rooting for his favorite team, the Buffalo Bills. He loves introducing new Mustangs to the SMU community!

Brooke Morrissy-Richardson

Assistant Director forParent & Family Programs

Brooke serves as the Assistant Director of Parent and Family Programs and Transitions at SMU. Her higher education journey started at Texas Christian University (TCU) where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Journalism and minored in Business. From there, Brooke earned her master’s degree in Higher Education with an emphasis in Student Affairs from Texas A&M University (TAMU). She has worked in new student and family programs, student engagement, student organizations, leadership programs, and graduate programs while at various institutions which include: TCU, TAMU, the Georgia Institute of Technology, and most recently, Vanguard University in Southern California.

Outside of work, Brooke enjoys traveling, spending time with friends and family, and serving the community. She feels grateful to be a part of the Mustang community and always loves the opportunity to connect with students and families!
