What to do if sick with the flu

  • Stay home and limit contact with others until you no longer have a fever (a temperature of less than 100.5 F) for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications.
  • To schedule an appointment with a provider at the Dr. Bob Smith Health Center, log into your SMU Health Portal or call 214-768-2141.
  • Seek medical attention if experiencing acute symptoms such as body aches, cough or a fever of more than 100.5 F. In case of emergency, call 911 or visit a hospital emergency room.



Getting vaccinated protects both you and those around you. Flu vaccinations are available at the Dr. Both Smith Health Center. All students and employees are eligible to receive a flu shot at the health center.

Flu Shot Clinics

Flu shot clinic dates are subject to change. Please refer to the health center events page for updated dates and times for flu shot clinics. Remember, flu shots are administered for walk-ins at the Dr. Bob Smith Health Center during normal business  hours. Monday - Friday 9A - 5P (closed for lunch 12P - 1P).
