The Scholars Den is a distinctive, newly renovated space intended for studying, group work, casual meetings, or even a quick nap between classes.

The Scholars Den serves as the central gathering space
for SMU’s Honors & Scholars community and the Office of Engaged Learning,
offering a welcoming home for study, collaboration, and connection.

The Scholars Den is a distinctive, newly renovated space in the basement of Clements Hall designed for studying, group work, casual meetings, or even a quick nap between classes. Make a coffee before class in the Hale Family Café, attend events hosted throughout the year, or stop by to visit many of your faculty and staff from Honors & Scholar Programs and the Office of Engaged Learning.

Hilltop Scholars

Hilltop Scholars is a first-year honors program that focuses on leadership and service. Students take specific courses together to build a strong academic foundation and participate in various social, cultural, and educational events to enhance their campus experience. Additionally, HSP provides opportunities for community service projects and philanthropies in the Dallas area, allowing students to make a positive impact in their community.

The Turner Scholars Program (formerly known as the Rotunda Scholars Program) is a four-year academic program that aims to help students achieve early success at Southern Methodist University by promoting academic achievement, leadership, professionalism, and personal excellence.

University Honors Program

The University Honors Program (UHP) prepares undergraduate students for their future by emphasizing a broad-based education in the humanities and sciences, and fostering a culture of intellectual curiosity. Students in the UHP program enroll in distinctive courses that provide opportunities to travel, complete independent research projects, and engage in Oxford seminar style coursework.

Hunt Scholars

The Hunt Leadership Scholars Program provides up to 75% of tuition and fees over four years. The program enables outstanding students who have demonstrated extraordinary leadership gifts to attend SMU and leave their mark on campus and within the broader Dallas community.

The President's Scholars Program (PS) provides full tuition & fees for some of the nation's high achieving students. This program is dedicated to supporting students who have demonstrated a remarkable level of academic achievement and possess a strong commitment to making a positive impact both on campus and beyond.

    Help us support the newly renovated Scholars Den this Giving Day!

    We are raising funds for the Scholars Den operating budget to maintain the space, expand special programming, and continue providing everyday office supplies, nutritious snacks, and all the little things that support Honors & Scholars students on their academic journey.

    Those who give $50 or more will receive a special commemorative Clements Hall mug as a thank you gift from all of us for helping keep the Scholars Den a thriving space for learning and community. 
    All gifts will be sent out within 3-4 weeks after Giving Day has concluded.
