Division of Art Helps Develop On-Line Portfolio Management System
The Division of Art, in conjunction with a software developer, has taken a lead in establishing a new service, which became available Jan. 1, through which student artists can better manage their careers and education by organizing on-line versions of their portfolios for submission and review by schools, galleries and potential employers.
The service, which can be accessed at smu.slideroom.com, allows artists to upload as many as 20 images in any of a number of digital-based formats into their on-line portfolio, which then can be sorted, labeled and managed for submission and review. On the receiving end, schools, employers and judges can collect portfolios and view them equally and without having to be in the same location as the artists’ work.
