In recognition of the Tate Lecture Series' silver anniversary season, in 2006-07, the University established the Willis M. Tate Distinguished Lecture Series Endowed President's Scholars Fund. The fund benefits SMU's President's Scholars Program, the University's most prestigious merit-based scholarship award. The President's Scholars Program is so named because it represents the University's highest commitment to attract and serve high-achieving students. Founded in 1982, the President's Scholars Program has provided a world of opportunity to some of the nation's brightest students, who in turn enrich the University with their intellectual vitality, diverse talents, and campus involvement.

Since the Tate Series’ 25th anniversary season in 2006-07, 745 patrons have contributed almost $260,000 to the Willis M. Tate Distinguished Lecture Series Endowed President’s Scholars Fund. These gifts, above and beyond the proceeds from the Series itself, provide scholarship support to the world changers of the future.

Gifts in any amount support scholars by providing additional resources for independent research, international study and other academic programs. To make a gift or for information, please call 214-768-8283 or email us at tateseries@smu.edu.
