Global Theological Education
Contemporary Christians and their churches are increasingly engaged in ministry with persons beyond their cultural and religious worlds. Many of those persons have moved to the United States and are part of the pluralistic society within this country. Others are partners in ministries outside the United States. All are part of a common humanity to whom God has come in Jesus Christ.
The Perkins Global Theological Education Program prepares men and women to lead congregations in culturally sensitive, competent, and effective mission both within and outside the United States. The program offers significant immersion experiences in cultures other than those in which participants live. Through these encounters students gain first-hand experience in building intercultural relationships, and learn invaluable lessons from others with different life experiences and outlooks.
The GTE Program also makes available to lay leaders of short-term mission teachers, facilitators, and other resources. Using these resources short-term mission teams complement their practical preparations with reflection on the theology and spirituality of mission toward the goals of both personal growth and more faithful partnerships with others.
