Summer Youth Programs
Enrichment workshops in the areas of computers, writing, art, math, science, reading, LEGOS, study skills, fashion design and leadership skills.

College Experience

Engineering Innovation Camps for Girls and Boys
The camp is designed to give students who are interested in pursuing educational opportunities and careers in STEM fields an opportunity to live on campus in residence halls, be mentored by representatives from the SMU faculty, participate in panel and group discussions with industry partners while working on design projects.

Fashion Media Workshop
This workshop is geared toward teaching high school students about producing and writing for fashion media. Students will learn about fashion blogs, social media and fashion journalism.

Girls Talk Back
Designed to polish skills in written “talk back,” each participant works to improve expertise in communication. In the afternoon students rotate to public speaking and professional etiquette classes. The faculty is comprised of SMU instructors, as well as teachers from public and private schools and recognized community leaders.

Hispanic Youth Leadership Academy (H.Y.L.A.)
This is a pilot program that provides an intensive and long-term mentoring experience around the topic of ministry calling and an annual summer academy to consider issues such as Christian discipleship, vocational discernment, leadership training, development of academic skills, the doctrine and policy of The United Methodist Church, how to apply for admission to college or seminary, how to find support on campus and Hispanic history and culture.

iD Tech Camps
This camp offers a variety of summer camp courses for beginner through advanced learners. Kids and teens learn one course topic per week, specializing in topics such as video game design, iPhone® app development, Flash® animation, programming and video editing.

Institute for Young Pianists
An intensive, performance-based experience taught by SMU faculty, graduate students and guest artist/teachers. The institute includes private lessons, master classes and group experiences exploring keyboard skills, music theory and ensemble performance. An audition is required.
