SMU President R. Gerald Turner was inducted into the Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame on April 21, an honor recognizing community leadership, personal integrity and innovation.
In his remarks, Dr. Turner said the award recognizes the entire University — “the remarkable commitment of SMU’s Board of Trustees, students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends… This induction into the Junior Achievement Hall of Fame tells us that Dallas is very pleased with the return it has received. And, in a very real way, we have just begun.”
His full remarks are available online.
Earlier in the week, Dr. Turner presented SMU’s “Economic and Community Impact Report” to more than 400 Dallas leaders at a luncheon at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.
The report outlined the regional financial contributions of SMU operations, as well as the University’s rising student quality and diversity; and growth in faculty research, academic programs, campus facilities, community service; and cultural enrichment. For the full report, see smu.edu/impact.
