DALLAS, TX.— The Meadows School of the Arts and Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University (SMU) will co-host the 10th International Conference on Arts and Cultural Management (AIMAC 2009), the premiere gathering of its kind.
The 2009 Conference will take place June 28-July 1 at the James R. Collins Executive Education Center at SMU, located in Dallas, Texas. Information and registration are available online at www.smu.edu/aimac/ .
Hosted in the United States for only the second time in AIMAC’s history, the 2009 Conference will gather researchers, arts professionals, academics, and students from all over the world to exchange insights, ideas, perspectives, and recent research findings on the management and marketing of arts and cultural organizations, and to learn about the latest developments, best practices, and fundamental issues affecting the field of arts and culture.
Past AIMAC conferences have been held in Paris, London, Brisbane, Helsinki, Valencia, Milan, Montreal and San Francisco. Research will be shared on the spectrum of cultural industries covering many topics as they relate to the arts, including consumer behavior, strategic management and planning, organization of creative industries, cultural economics, finance, strategic marketing, product and brand management, and performance measurement.
AIMAC attendees come from arts organizations and/or universities around the globe, including Eastern & Western Europe, Asia, Australia, North and South America, and Africa. Many of this year’s papers are case studies from major European cultural centers and locales such as Tunisia, Russia, Japan, Serbia, and Buenos Aires. Research has been accepted from authors representing 27 countries.
Major sponsorship of the 2009 AIMAC Conference is supplied by the Innovation and Regulation Chair at École Polytechnique (Paris, France) and the AG2R Chair at the Euromed Marseille School of Management (Marseille, France). Additional sponsorship is generously provided by the Crow Collection of Asian Art, the Meadows Museum at SMU, the Dallas Museum of Art, and Bodegas Montecillo Rioja.
Registration is mandatory for all conference attendees, and registration includes admittance to conference sessions, a CD-ROM of research proceedings, coffee breaks, lunches, gala dinner, a two-year subscription to the International Journal of Arts Management and the social programs, including cocktails and exclusive visits to Dallas cultural organizations.
