Ranks SMU's Cox 15th in the U.S.

The Wall Street Journal yesterday released its premier ranking of Executive MBA (EMBA) programs, and the Cox School is proud to announce it ranked 15th in the U.S.

Dallas (SMU) – The Wall Street Journal yesterday released its premier ranking of Executive MBA (EMBA) programs, and the Cox School is proud to announce it ranked #15 in the U.S.

This ranking further solidifies the Cox School’s standing as being consistently ranked among the top 15 for its working professionals programs.  The Financial Times currently ranks the Cox EMBA #15 in the nation. U.S. News & World Report currently ranks the Cox EMBA program #15 and the Professional MBA (PMBA) program #9 in the nation.  And BusinessWeek ranks Cox #11 and #13 worldwide for its EMBA and PMBA programs, respectively.

There are 10 schools consistently named as top EMBA programs in all the rankings: Columbia, Wharton, Kellogg, Chicago, Duke, Michigan, North Carolina, Southern California, Emory and SMU Cox.

"We are delighted that The Wall Street Journal  has ranked the Cox School’s prestigious EMBA program one of the top programs in the world," said Albert W. Niemi, Jr., dean of the Cox School. “Our faculty, staff, current students and graduates work hard to make the Cox School the best it can be, and they deserve the credit for this recognition.”

The average age of a Cox EMBA student is 37 with 15 years of work experience.  And with a total of 184 students combined, it is the largest and most prestigious EMBA program in Texas.

The ranking was compiled based on three components: how a school scored in a survey of members of the most current graduating EMBA class; status in a survey of companies familiar with EMBA programs; and how well it imparted management and leadership skills identified as crucial in the student and company surveys.  To calculate the final ranking, the student, corporate and skills scores were added up, with the student and corporate scores each given a weight of 40% of the final total and the skills score weighted at 20%.
