Kappa Alpha Order FAQ
Kappa Alpha Order is excited to be returning to Southern Methodist University in Fall of 2026 to reestablish our Beta Lambda chapter, if you are interested in learning more about KA please fill out our interest form below.
Kappa Alpha Order will join the IFC in the majority of recruitment to share more about their organization and how to join. KA will then hold a separate recruitment process (led by national representatives and SMU KA alumni) in the early fall semester, shortly following the IFC formal recruitment process in Fall 2026.
Membership in Kappa Alpha Order is an opportunity to join a vast network of KA’s in Dallas, which is more than 8,000 strong. KA is looking for men who excel in leadership, academics on campus, and want to rebuild a strong legacy at SMU. KA is a values-based organization and will be recruiting on the basis of our six values; reverence, gentility, leadership, knowledge, brotherhood, and excellence. KA is an order, which means that we recruit men who already uphold our values. Along with our values, below are our minimum requirements of membership:
- Students must be fully enrolled in the institution; or enrolled in at least 12 hours.
- Achieve a 3.0 GPA, per Kappa Alpha Order requirement.
- Not be placed on conduct probation or higher with the Office of Student Conduct & Community Standards during the semester in which a student plans to join prior to initiation.
- Not currently be an initiated member of any other IFC organization.
