Infectious Diseases and Geographic Medicine Grand Rounds: "Some Applications of Time Series Analysis to Medical Research"

On Wednesday, September 11, 2019, SMU Economics Professor Dr. Thomas Fomby gave his lecture “Some Applications of Time Series Analysis to Medical Research” at the Infectious Diseases and Geographic Medicine Grand Rounds Lecture Series at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. In particular, Dr. Fomby first discussed the maladies caused by spurious and unbalanced regressions as it relates to doing valid time series analysis. Then, in the context of joint papers that Professor Fomby has recently written with UT Southwestern Medical Center researches, he discussed the time series techniques of Intervention Analysis, Co-Integration, Panel Co-Integration, and Autoregressive-Distributed Lag models.
