After You Apply
- Regularly check your email for updates on your application status, instructions for SMU email account activation, pre-arrival check-list, and more.
- Receive an electronic copy of your acceptance letter
- Activate your SMU email account
- Receive an electronic copy of your I-20 sent to your SMU email
- Schedule a visa interview
- Pay for a SEVIS Fee
- Once your visa is approved, confirm your enrollment and arrival date by emailing iep@smu.edu
- Search for off-campus housing options
- Take the IEP Online Placement Test
- Complete the International Student Compliance Canvas Course BEFORE attending IEP New Student Check-In
After You Arrive
- Notify us of your arrival in an email to iep@smu.edu
- Attend the IEP New Student Check-In Session
- Clear any holds on your SMU account
- Attend the term orientation
- Enroll into IEP courses
- Pay the IEP tuition & fees
