About the Baptist House of Studies

Equipping and Empowering Baptist and Free Church Students

The Baptist House of Studies (or the BHS) is a dedicated community of Baptist and Free Church students, staff, and faculty committed to learning, celebrating, challenging, and questioning what it means to be faithful in a modern context.

The BHS was envisioned and brought to life through the passion of Rev. Dr. Jaime Clark-Soles and Rev. Dr. George Mason. Seeking to support students from Baptist and other Free Church traditions within a Methodist seminary, they built a program and a community that helps students discern the shape of their call within the Baptist and Free Church traditions.

With a generous grant from the Baugh Family Foundation and other donors, the BHS supports students

  • financially through scholarships and travel awards
  • academically with specially tailored classes
  • socially through communal meals and informal gatherings
  • spiritually through opportunities to engage in faith formation and spiritual direction and
  • professionally with connections to a wide variety of denominational bodies and academic institutions

If you're looking to deepen your faith, pursue a degree, or enhance your ministry, the BHS is here to support you on that journey.
