SMU enhances communication across units with my.SMU Advising Notes. If you are an academic advisor or scholar group leader, use advising notes to support student success. Access to crucial student interactions fosters successful relationships. Student Success and Retention review certain Advising Note categories and to outreach to students and advisors.

The Caring Community Connections Program provides support to students who are experiencing challenges by identifying and linking them to appropriate resources. If you are concerned about an SMU student, this is the best place to start.

Early and Mid Term Progress Reports

Following posting early and midterm progress reports, Student Success and Retention outreaches to undergraduate students. This involves sending emails and text messages to students with two or more deficient grades, providing one-on-one success coaching, and sharing academic support resources. Faculty are encouraged to submit early and midterm progress reports to support student success.

Learn from our Exit Survey Analysis

The Exit Survey is our student-oriented questionnaire that tracks external attrition, whether formal exit or for a Leave of Absence, and supports the SMU in identifying key drivers of student satisfaction, dissatisfaction, and attrition. Student Success and Retention facilitates the collection, analysis, and dissemination of findings to the campus community.
