DASS Peer Mentor Program
A DASS Peer Mentor is Here to Help
The DASS Peer Mentor Program is a free service that helps new students with disabilities to transition successfully to SMU and then continue that success. Peer mentors offer practical support, encouragement, and peer-to-peer insight on academic life, campus resources, and navigating SMU with a disability. The program fosters connection, guidance, and empowerment.
Interested in being matched with a DASS Peer Mentor, or becoming a DASS Peer Mentor? Email us at dass@smu.edu.
You can also meet with a DASS Peer Mentor in Room 202M of the A-LEC during walk-in hours on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays from 6-7 p.m.
New to SMU? Connect with a DASS Peer Mentor for a strong start!
Getting started at SMU can feel exciting, but also overwhelming. To make that transition smoother and keep you more connected, utilize the DASS Peer Mentor Program. Your mentor is a fellow SMU student with a disability – someone whoknows the ropes and can help you find your way.
Continuing students can benefit, too!
Are you a DASS student who needs help getting started on an assignment, wants to boost motivation, or keeps getting distracted? A DASS Peer Mentor can be your accountability partner, or ADHD body double.
As student registered with DASS, a trained peer mentor can help you:
- Navigate campus
- Find your community
- Problem-solve common challenges and stay motivated
- Identify and access key campus resources
- Understand how to manage college systems, including DASS
- Stay engaged, supported, and on track
