Lillian Derr

Lillian (Lily) Derr, a Dallas, Texas native, is double-majoring in Mathematics and Political Science, with minors in Environmental Engineering and Public Policy & International Affairs through the Tower Scholars Program. At SMU, Lily is a Tower Scholar, a Dedman College Scholar, a Pre-Law Scholar, a Grand Challenges Scholar, a Provost Scholar, a Millwee Scholar, a Discovery Scholar, an Undergraduate Research Assistant, and an Engaged Learning Fellow. Lily serves as the Student Representative to the SMU Board of Trustees on the Academic Policy, Planning, & Management Committee. She is also a member of the University Honors Program, where she serves as President of the University Honors Program Student Advisory Council and as the Student Representative on the Faculty Advisory Council. She is the Undergraduate Representative on the President's Commission on the Status of Women at SMU. While at SMU, Lily has been named to the Honor Roll with High Distinction each semester. Outside of SMU, Lily has worked as a consultant for the George W. Bush Presidential Center’s Economic Growth department. Currently, Lily is an intern at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas and she is an Undergraduate Fellow at the Commercial Diplomacy Initiative @SMU Cox. Lily’s main policy interests include economic and monetary policy, as she sees this as a great way to combine her interests in both mathematics and policy.
