    Pia Orrenius

    Vice President and Senior Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas


    Pia Orrenius is a labor economist working on regional economic growth and demographic change. She manages the regional group in the Dallas Fed Research Department, serves as the executive editor of Southwest Economy, and co-edited Ten Gallon Economy: Sizing up Economic Growth in Texas. Her research focuses on the labor market impacts of immigration and U.S. immigration policy.

    Orrenius previously served as a senior economist on the Council of Economic Advisers in the Executive Office of the President (2004–05), where she advised the administration on labor, health, and immigration issues. She is also the coauthor of Beside the Golden Door: U.S. Immigration Reform in a New Era of Globalization.

    Dr. Raymond Robertson is a Professor and holder of the Helen and Roy Ryu Chair in Economics and Government in the Department of International Affairs at the Bush School of Government and Public Service. In addition to directing the Mosbacher Institute, he serves as a research fellow at the Institute for the Study of Labor in Bonn, Germany, and a senior research fellow at the Mission Foods Texas-Mexico Center. He was named a 2018 Presidential Impact Fellow by Texas A&M University.

    Widely published in the field of labor economics and international economics, Robertson previously chaired the US Department of Labor’s National Advisory Committee for Labor Provisions of the US Free Trade Agreements and served on both the State Department's Advisory Committee on International Economic Policy and the Center for Global Development’s advisory board.

    Dr. Adrián Duhalt’s research interests lie at the intersection of political economy and policy issues concerning the energy sector in North America and Latin America. At Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, he leads research on natural gas, petrochemicals, and the liberalization of the energy sector in Mexico.

    Prior to his current roles, Dr. Duhalt was a postdoctoral fellow at Rice University’s Baker Institute and an associate professor at Universidad de las Américas Puebla (UDLAP) in Mexico, where he chaired the Department of International Business. He is a recognized expert on the development trajectory of Mexico’s petrochemical industry.

    Manuel Sánchez is a distinguished economist with a career spanning central banking, private finance, and academia. He currently serves as the president of ai360, an advisor to Spruceview Capital Partners, and a member of the Board of Directors for several corporations.

    From 2009 to 2016, he served as a member of the Governing Board and Vice Governor at the Bank of Mexico. His extensive background in the banking sector includes over a decade at BBVA Bancomer, where he served as Chief Economist and Director of Investment at Valanza Mexico.
