French Major

Courses are to be selected in consultation with the major adviser. Study abroad with SMU-in-France, a faculty-led summer program, is strongly recommended. 

Requirements for the Major

Core Courses (10 Credit Hours)

Elective Courses (18 Credit Hours)

Six advanced courses (3000 level and above), distributed as follows:

No more than four 3000-level FREN courses

At least two 4000-level FREN courses

No more than one WL course taught in the French Area, from the following list:

Total for the Major Only: 28 Credit Hours
