CURRICULUM VITAE

University of Kentucky, Ph.D.

Villanova University, M.S.

Indiana University, B.S.

My research generally concerns psychological assessment and health outcome prediction. I am interested in using artificial intelligence (AI) including natural language processing to identify behavioral markers of personality and mental health – such as speech, language, and facial expressions – with priority on representing diverse groups. I mentor several graduate students on research projects in these areas and teach courses on research design, assessment, and psychological disorders.

I am director of the Personality, Mental Health and AI laboratory at SMU. I have received research funding from the National Institutes of Health and the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation to pursue my work and I was awarded the Emerging Scholar Award by the Association for Research in Personality. I am on the editorial boards for Psychological Assessment, Assessment, and Personality Disorders: Theory, Research, and Treatment.

As a licensed clinical psychologist, I am interested in common mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, insomnia, and PTSD, and the intersection of personality with psychological disorder. On clinical internship, I trained in several settings including inpatient and outpatient hospitals, primary care, and college counseling. In treatment, I draw strategies from cognitive-behavioral, cognitive processing, mindfulness, and dialectical behavior therapies.
