  • Bio

    Scooter serves as an Adjunct Professor of Accounting. He leverages his passion for accounting and years of experience outside the classroom to provide his students with the opportunity to learn the language of business. Scooter is an accomplished financial executive with over 15 years of experience. Scooter runs Heath Advisory, a boutique CFO advisory and consulting practice that provides fractional CFO and project-based consulting services to companies in various industries. He serves as the Chief Financial Officer of Texas Tree Surgeons, one of DFW’s fastest growing tree care companies, Empire Baking Company, Dallas’ finest baker of artisanal breads, and Scale Marketing, a Chicago-based advertising agency. Before beginning his advisory practice, Scooter served as the Director of Operations and Finance at The Richards Group, the nation’s largest independent advertising agency. Scooter led the 22-member accounting and finance teams, negotiated major contracts with clients and vendors, handled the spin-off and integration of various affiliated entities, and oversaw the administration of the company’s health plan and $125 million retirement plan. Scooter also spent time as a manager in the Private Company Services practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he provided audit services to clients in the advertising, restaurant, manufacturing, and payment processing industries. He specialized in finding practical solutions to complex technical accounting matters including leases, debt restructuring, and purchase accounting. Scooter received his BBA in Financial Consulting and a Master of Science in Accounting from SMU’s Cox School of Business. He is a CPA in the state of Texas and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. In his spare time, Scooter loves spending time with his wife and two daughters, cycling, and playing music.
