All incoming freshmen and transfer student-athletes who join the Mustang family in the summer term will participate in Summer Bridge programming. The Summer Bridge program assists students in their transition to SMU. During this time, students will grow accustomed to the demands of a student-athlete and learn essential transitional skills and resources before the Fall semester starts. Students will participate in daily study halls, be introduced to guest speakers, and visit other offices on campus. Throughout the summer, students will attend educational sessions that cover topics such as the SMU Honor Code, Majors @ SMU, and Cultural Intelligence.
The aim of this program is to help students learn to balance their academics with athletics, acclimate to the college environment, and learn about the different resources and opportunities that SMU has to offer. At the conclusion of the summer term, student-athletes will learn how to address the varying challenges student-athletes face on a college campus to successfully become acclimated to life as a Mustang student-athlete.
