Robert Mayer Undergraduate Research Fellows Program

Robert Mayer, Jr. founded the Mayer Undergraduate Research Fellows Program in 2012 with the goal of supporting Dedman College undergraduate students in pursuing ambitious interdisciplinary research. Mr. Mayer’s nephew, Bruce Sternberg, continues to support the program today.

Mayer Fellows work with two faculty mentors from different disciplines to conduct a substantial and significant research project that combines and integrates the perspectives of their major(s) and/or minor(s).

Fellows have access to funds for research travel or other expenses related to the development and completion of their research project, or to attend scholarly conferences to present their work. Many Mayer Fellows enroll in an independent study or directed reading course in one of their major/minor fields during the fellowship year.

At the end of the fellowship year, each Mayer Fellow is required to produce a substantial research paper and to give a public presentation about their research. Mayer Fellows are also recognized at the University Honors Convocation.
