Godbey Lecture

The Godbey Lectures, a distinguished Dedman College tradition with a 35-year history, now falls under the auspices of the DCII. These lectures feature SMU faculty on a variety of topics focused primarily on the humanities. A new highlight is an Anniversary series marking important historical events on their anniversary year. Lectures are free and open to the public.

From one of three 2019 Godbey Lectures, Rachel Ball-Phillips gave the audience a great deal of insight on the life of Mahatma Gandhi.

In 2016, the Godbey Series launched the annual Faculty Book Fest, a celebration of all books published by SMU faculty members the previous year. If you are an SMU faculty member that has published a book in the previous year, please send your information to dcinterdisciplinaryinstitute@smu.edu with the subject "Faculty Book Fest Submission" to be included in the celebration!

2019 Faculty Book Fest: honorees are discussing the commemorated works for the year.

Upcoming Godbey Lectures will be posted on the DCII event page, or email dcinterdisciplinaryinstitute@smu.edu or more information.
