Rev. Dr. Jaime Clark-Soles Featured in Current Feature Film Documentary

Jaime Clark-Soles, associate professor of New Testament at Perkins, is featured in a new documentary addressing the topic of "Hell" and will participate in a Q&A following a screening of the film Sept. 22 in Grapevine, Texas. In addition to Dr. Clark-Soles, "Hellbound?" – a feature-length film addressing current theological debates about hell – also includes Sharon Baker, an SMU alumna. Dr. Baker earned her Ph.D. from the Graduate Program in Religious Studies, a joint program of Perkins and SMU’s Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences. Dr. Baker currently is associate professor of Theology and Religion at Messiah College. Interviewees in the documentary include Greg Boyd, Brian McLaren, Mark Driscoll, William Paul Young, Frank Schaeffer, Rob Bell, Kevin DeYoung and other well-known figures.

Following the 6:10 p.m. screening Sept. 22 at the AMC Grapevine Mills 30 (3150 Grapevine Mills Parkway), director Kevin Miller will join Dr. Clark-Soles for a Q&A at Cozymels Coastal Mex restaurant, located in the same shopping complex. The Q&A is open to the public.

“Hellbound” does an “excellent job of both explicating and summarizing key concepts and debates in Christianity over thousands of years,” Dr. Clark-Soles commented. “We hope this film generates engaging discussion for a wide audience."
