Overview

ACC ALN faculty standing in front of the Wake Forest University StadiumThe ACC Academic Leaders Network (ALN) is designed to facilitate cross-institutional networking and collaboration among academic leaders while building leadership capacity for the participating institutions. Participants are typically faculty leaders who have received foundational leadership training and who have at least one to two years of experience in their current leadership role, such as department chairs or heads, assistant or associate deans, and assistant or associate provosts. The program consists of three on-site sessions over the course of the calendar year, each hosted at a different participating university campus. These sessions are designed to build leadership awareness and effectiveness in the context of higher education and facilitate conversations over a range of topics that support leadership growth in key areas across multiple spheres of influence. On-site sessions will include content and discussion designed to further knowledge and skills of intra- and interpersonal leadership styles, building leadership capacity, navigating complex challenges in higher education, and collaborating on complex challenges for leaders in academia.

Agenda

Schedule

The SMU site visit will begin with lunch at noon on the first day and conclude with a boxed to-go lunch at noon on the third day. Meals will be provided throughout each session. When booking travel, please make arrangements to be present throughout this window. A full agenda will be posted no later than the end of February.

Travel information

Two airports are convenient to the SMU campus. The larger airport, DFW, is the American Airlines hub and has a greater number of direct flights. It is approximately 30–40 minutes from the SMU campus. The smaller airport, Dallas Love Field, is much closer to campus (a 10–15 minute drive); Love Field is the main hub for Southwest Airlines. Both are very good options depending on connections from your originating airport.

Transportation to/from each airport is easiest with any rideshare company or taxi. Public transportation is not an efficient option. Your hotel is within walking distance (literally across the street) from the SMU campus. We do not recommend renting a car unless you plan to extend your stay to discover Dallas (which we do recommend!) If you do rent a car, please note that there is a hotel charge for parking of approximately $45/day.

Hotel information

We have reserved the entirety of the Graduate by Hilton Dallas, which is located across the street from the SMU campus. The hotel includes an outdoor pool, fitness center, and on-site restaurant. Please note that all meals for the duration of your stay will be provided for you on the main SMU campus.

You do not need to register for the hotel. We will reserve all rooms using the main registration information you are provided using the link on this page. Please bring a government-issued ID and credit card (for any incidentals) for check-in.

Please note that there is not an early check-in option at the hotel. You will take transportation from the airport to Prothro Hall at SMU (a three-minute walk from the hotel) where we will have a place to check your luggage. You will have an opportunity to check in and freshen up between 4 p.m. and the reception at 5:30.

Prothro Hall: 5901 Bishop Boulevard, SMU, Dallas, 75205

Graduate by Hilton: 6101 Hillcrest Ave, Dallas, TX 75205

Registration

All participants, including the ACC ALN liaisons, should register at this link no later than February 20, 2026. We will use your registration information to confirm your hotel.
