MISSION STATEMENT
Student Life Departments initiate and sustain student development and the quality of life at SMU through purposeful and innovative opportunities for learning, cultural appreciation, personal growth, values clarification, ethical behavior and skill development.
To fulfill its mission, Student Life Departments strive to enhance the academic quality and competitiveness of the University by pursuing the following goals:
- Continuously improve programs and opportunities for student involvement by utilizing assessment methods that measure student interests and expectations.
- Provide challenging, diverse and dynamic learning opportunities for all students, engaging them in a vibrant, out-of-classroom experience, which will prepare them to be leaders in a global society.
- Partner with faculty and others within the University to create and enhance learning initiatives, providing opportunities to cultivate principled thought and demonstrate creative achievement.
OPERATING PRINCIPLES
Communication - Because we value communication, we
will deal directly, openly, and honestly with one another, in a timely fashion.
Diversity - Because we value diversity, we will
encourage inclusiveness as we celebrate, embrace, and utilize people's
