Mission & Purpose: The Office of Student Transitions & Orientation provides ongoing programs and services that support new students and families in transition to Southern Methodist University. We provide a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere, connect students to University resources and people, acquaint new students with institutional expectations and values, promote learning and discovery both inside and outside of the classroom, and foster pride in the SMU community.

    Academic Advising Registration and Orientation (AARO) is a two-day program (one day for transfer students) designed to assist you in making a comfortable transition to University life at SMU. Bring the family! Learn more

  • Mustang Corral


    Mustang Corral is the extended orientation programming from Move-In to Convocation which includes an off-campus retreat for all incoming students. Meet your classmates, get to know faculty, staff, and student leaders, and learn about the spirit and traditions of SMU, as well as academic life. Learn more
