Visiting Lecturer in Spanish (Position No. 00053702)

The Department of World Languages and Literatures in Dedman College at Southern Methodist University seeks a full-time, non-tenure-track visiting lecturer in Spanish beginning fall semester 2015. One year contract. M.A. or equivalent in Spanish required; Ph.D. a plus. We seek candidates with demonstrated excellence in teaching a variety of language and culture courses at the college level and with training in second language acquisition and pedagogy. Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English required.  Ability to teach courses in Spanish for the Professions or Translation a plus.

Our students can major in French, German, Spanish & "World Languages" (a two-language major). In addition to these languages, students can earn a minor in Arabic, Chinese, Italian, Japanese, Latin and Russian.

Students are free to explore many dimensions of one or more languages and cultures through a wide variety of authentic materials- from literature and history to films and television & programming.

In addition, the WLL Technology Center offers students the opportunity to discover languages through a wide variety of technologies.
