Student Awards

The John Walsh Award is given to the student with the most outstanding performance on the Ph.D. written exam.

The Paul Minton Award is given to the first year student with the best overall performance in class and the basic exam. Paul Minton Memorial Article (AmStat News, Sept 2008).

The Scheuren Award for Academic Excellence is given to two first-year students for outstanding performance in the theory and applied portions, respectively, of the first-year curriculum.

The first recipients of this award were Tracy Xu and Kinfemichael Gedif (2004). Luke Peterson and Lisa Cannon were the winners of this award in 2005.

Getaneh Yismah was the 2006 winner of the Scheuren Award; Ke Wang was the 2007 winner; 2008 winner was Heather Lin; 2009 winner was Xiaowen Hu;

2010 winners were Jacob Turner and Kalanka Jayalath.
