Position Title: Assistant Professor Duties & Responsibilities: The Department of Statistics anticipates a tenure-track position in Computational Statistics with an emphasis on data mining, data visualization, spatial statistics, machine learning, image analysis, neuroscience, or related areas. The starting date is August, 2013. Appointments at the assistant professor level are preferred, but exceptional senior candidates will be considered.

Position Qualifications: Applicants must have earned a doctorate in statistics, biostatistics, or closely related field at the time of appointment. Salary Range: Competitive salary is commensurate with education and experience. Benefits:

Entry-Level Statistical Analysts

Our mission is to improve public well-being by bringing the highest standards of quality, objectivity, and excellence to bear on the work we do for our clients, which include federal, state, and local government agencies, as well as private foundations.We are looking for Entry-Level Statistical Analysts in our Washington D.C. Statistical Services Department to support survey sampling and statistical analysis activities. This position involves providing programming, research, and project management support to survey sampling and statistical research projects.

Duties of the position:
Programming
-Write programs in SAS to select samples, calculate weights, and impute missing data.
-Perform data analyses using SAS, State, R, SUDAAN or other statistical software packages.
-Produce descriptive statistics and tables.
Research
-Prepare tables and graphs based on analyses.
-Compile, track, and analyze data and prepare reports.
-Assist with writing reports and memos.
-Perform literature searches, review, and abstract articles.
-Assist with any other project activities as needed.
Project Management
-Track financial progress of projects using Excel.
-Prepare reports for and attend monthly project reviews.
-Assist with budgeting and contract proposals.

Preferred Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree with an excellent academic record, including courses in statistics, mathematics, social science, or computer science
-Academic or work experience performing data analysis using a statistical computer package
-Strong organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and with others

The SAS Fellow will work at SAS Corporate headquarters in Cary, North Carolina for 12 weeks during the summer of 2013, and will receive a salary and a stipend for living expenses during his/her employment.  The fellowship opportunities are open to doctoral candidates studying in the United States with at least 2 years of graduate studies completed by the end of the spring 2013 semester.
