The discipline of psychology utilizes scientific methods to understand cognition, emotion, behavior, and interpersonal relationships. The Department of Psychology at SMU offers an undergraduate degree in psychology and a doctoral degree in clinical psychology. Our faculty members’ research spans a diverse range of topics, including psychophysiology and stress response, health behaviors, couple and family relationships, and mental illnesses such as schizophrenia, mood disorders, and anxiety disorders. Undergraduate and graduate students are heavily involved in conducting research.
