The Clements Department of History in Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences at Southern Methodist University seeks a tenure-track assistant professor to hold the Jeremy duQuesnay Adams Centennial Professorship in Western European Medieval History, beginning fall 2017.  The successful candidate will join a department characterized by excellent teaching and first-rate scholarship, with a longstanding commitment to the study of the Middle Ages.  Ph.D. required by August 15, 2017; teaching experience desirable; salary competitive.  Employment eligibility verification required upon appointment.  For full consideration, applications must be received by October 28, 2016, but the committee will continue to accept applications until the position is filled.  Preliminary interviews will be conducted via Skype, likely in December.  Send letter of application, curriculum vitae, a writing sample (maximum fifty pages), and three letters of recommendation to Professor Andrew R.
