Bachelor of Science in Applied Physiology & Sport Management
The Department of Applied Physiology and Wellness offers undergraduate and graduate programs and maintains three research labs that collectively promote academic rigor and sound practice in the sport and health leadership and management industries and promote the scientific advancement of the field of applied physiology.
The Bachelor of Science in Applied Physiology and Sport Management (APSM) offers specializations in Applied Physiology & Health Management, Sport Management and Sport Performance Leadership.
The department also offers an M.S. in Sport Management, a M.S. in Health Promotion Management, and a Ph.D. in Applied Physiology. Additionally, the department manages three research laboratories that support funded scientific investigations. The Locomotor Performance Lab studies the relationship of muscle function to metabolic energy expenditure and performance. The Applied Physiology/Biomechanics Lab investigates autonomic function and thermoregulation in healthy and clinical populations, and the Cerebrovascular Research Laboratory investigates cerebral blood-flow regulation and the role of the autonomic nervous system in healthy and diseased humans.
The Department’s Wellness program offers two courses--PRW I and PRW II—that are required in the University Curriculum. The wellness courses reflect the University's philosophy that a balanced education should enhance the social, physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being of students.
